Q:How can I get the most relevant search results? Top
A: Keywords are used to determine the search results. The Search Results page lists Job Postings that contain the specified Keywords in their Job Descriptions. Enter one or more Keywords that you would expect to see in your preferred job.
If looking to work in a specific town or area, try typing the name of the town or city as a Keyword and select the closest Location listed in the Choose Location box. If you are looking to work from home or only part-time, try Keywords like Telecommute or Part-time.

To refine your results, consult our Keyword Search Tips for advanced searching options.

Q: How can I get more information about a job posting? Top
A: Since employers post their own Jobs, they only include information that they want the Job Seeker to have. Should you find that an employer has omitted a form to contact them, please Contact Us and we will ask them to update that listing as soon as possible with correct and accurate information. Although most Jobs are listed for 60 days, employers can remove their Jobs whenever they like.

Q: What should I do if I come across a Job Posting that I believe to be fraudulent?  Top
A: Monster Job Posting Fraud Statement
Regrettably, from time to time, false job postings are listed online and used to illegally collect personal information from unsuspecting job seekers. The placement of such false job postings is a violation of the Monster Terms of Use and may also be illegal.
Monster is dedicated to stopping this abuse and providing the safest possible environment for you to search and apply to jobs and manage your career.

Here are some important tips to use when dealing with prospective employers:

  • Do not give your credit card details, bank account details or National Insurance number unless you are confident that the other party is who they claim to be. For example, you could ask them for a call-back number to use for verification purposes.
  • Be careful when providing credit card or bank information, or engaging in any monetary transactions. Be sure to verify the legitimacy of the employer with whom you are interacting.
  • Do not provide any non-work-related personal information over the phone or online.
  • Be cautious when dealing with contacts outside your own country.
  • Be wary of emails that offer an opportunity that involves acting as a go-between for money transfers. Disregard the email and DO NOT follow through with the employment offer being made.

What happens when I apply online to a job posting?  Top
A: When you Apply Online, the employer receives your CV and Cover Letter (optional) via email. They can also access it at any time from their Manage CVs folder within their Monster account. All Applications you send using Apply Online are stored in your account on the History page. the History page does not track Applications you make via email, mail, or fax.
Note: In some cases, employers may use the Apply Online link to take you to their corporate web site to fill out their own form. These Applications are not trackable within your account either.

Q:  Do I have to pay any fees to register?  Top
A:  No. All of monster.co.uk’s personal career management services are FREE!

Q: Has, or will, my information be sold to any Third Parties?  Top
A: No, your information will not and has not been sold to third parties. Monster is collecting these promotional offers to send to you if you have chosen to opt-in to receive them.

Monster will not disclose to any third party your name, address, email address or telephone number without your prior consent, except to the extent necessary or appropriate to comply with applicable laws or in legal proceedings where such information is relevant.

Monster also provides you with the opportunity to opt-out of these types of communications. If you choose to receive these types of communications at the time of registration but later decide you no longer want to receive them, simply log into your My Monster account and edit your preferences in your Account Profile.

Top
A: When you do a Job Search, you can save that specific search as a Job Search Agent if you are already logged in. From the Job Search Results page, just click the Save this search and email me jobs link. Q: I am having problems uploading my Word CV because it says Track Changes is enabled. What can I do?
A: CVs cannot be attached when Word's Track Changes feature is enabled in your document. Follow these steps to remove the Track Changes feature:

1. Open the .doc file and save it as an rtf file (by using File menu / Save As option).
2. Quit Word.
3. Restart word, open your .rtf file, and you should see some revisions highlighted in green.
4. Select Tools menu / Track Changes / Highlight Changes.
5. In that dialog, deselect Highlight changes on screen AND deselect Highlight changes in printed document.
6. Click OK
7. Select Tools menu / Track Changes / Accept or Reject Changes.
8. Accept all should now be an active button (i.e. not greyed out). Accept all changes.
9. Select File menu / Save As and save it as a .doc file.

Q: Can I see which employers have viewed my CV and how many times they've viewed it?
A: The CV Views counter keeps a tally of the number of times your CV has been viewed by employers who pulled your CV from the database. If you Apply Online to a Job Posting, the employer receives your CV in an email and this does not count towards your CV Views. However, your CV ID number is provided to the employer, giving them access to your CV in the searchable database. This could result in an increase in the number of views that your CV receives.

We do not track who has seen your CV, and you will only know that an employer has seen your CV if they contact you.

Q: Why doesn't the link you sent me in an email work?
