11th Dec - UK workers turning to job sites for career advice
Although family and friends are still the number one choice for career’s advice, UK workers are increasingly turning to online job sites for the advice that they need. The results show that users would rather look online for clear, objective career advice than turn to colleagues at work; 31% answered they would go to a career site compared to only 11% who would speak to a colleague at work.

Monster’s most recent poll of workers across the UK shows that more than half of the UK workforce is considering a complete career change. According to the poll, 58% of UK workers are planning to retrain at some point in the future with only 5% claiming to love the career they’re currently in.

Monster’s most recent poll of workers across Europe has found that the lunch cultures across the continent vary strongly. With scientists saying that the desk, in terms of bacteria, is 400 times dirtier than the average toilet, the Monster Meter poll shows that over 47% of office workers in the UK still choose to eat lunch at their desks.

A recent survey by Monster.co.uk, showed that as much as 67% of the British workforce regularly lie during job applications. However, as the use of social networking websites proliferates, it seems that employers and recruiters alike are now armed with an effective method of curbing this trend.

18th May - Monster offers job search on the move
Monster UK today announces the launch of its site for mobile devices giving users access to services available on http://mobile.monster.co.uk/ whilst they are on the move. Mobile internet users will now be able to view interactive job postings, information and advice on their mobile handheld device at their own convenience.

17th May - Enfield Council chooses Monster to reduce recruitment costs
Monster.co.uk has been selected by Enfield Council, London to provide recruitment services that have reduced average recruiting time by 26 weeks. Monster beat stiff competition from other online recruitment companies enabling the council to also reduce their recruitment budget from £1million to £363,000 per year allowing them to focus more resources on providing services to the 280,000 residents in Enfield.

10th May - Monster’s performance assessments reduce the cost of recruitment
Monster has launched a range of new online performance assessments to help employers better identify suitable candidates. The service is available on monster.co.uk and provides 15 different assessments for sector specific competencies.

8th May - British Chamber of Commerce members reduce the cost of recruitment
Monster UK has announced an alliance with the British Chamber of Commerce to benefit local businesses across the UK. The alliance will enable members of the British Chambers of Commerce, mainly comprising small to medium enterprises, to post jobs and search for candidates on Monster’s site at an exclusive discounted rate, helping local companies to find new talent and cut the costs of recruitment.

Monster UK has beaten stiff competition to win the 2007 prestigious ‘Best Online Service’ Excellence Award at last night’s Recruiter Magazine event.

2nd Apr - Monster Scotland works for Strathclyde Partnership for Transport
Monster Scotland has today announced it is teaming up with Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT), the Regional Transport Partnership (RTP) for the West of Scotland, who is creating their first online recruiting site with the purchase of a Monster Branded Career Site.

26th Mar - Workers believe women are hindered by a 'glass ceiling'
Monster’s most recent poll of workers’ attitudes across Europe has found that despite best efforts, many feel that a 'glass ceiling' still exists for women in the workplace. The term refers to situations where the advancement of a person within an organisation is limited and is often based on gender discrimination.

Whether it’s walking, cycling, driving or pushing and shoving for a seat using public transport, we all need to get to work. Stats have shown that the average UK worker spends 360 hours, or the equivalent of 15 days a year just commuting to work – that’s 2,906 miles per annum per worker. Overall, commuting accounts for approximately 78.5 billion miles travelled by the UK workforce in one year.
